Dublin bus driver, Thomas Johns, describes the difficulties and challenges of driving a bus in Dublin traffic.
Thomas's father, two brothers and his nephew have all driven Dublin buses. Between them have given close to 200 years of service to the travelling city public. Thomas describes the hazards he meets along the number 11 bus route which he drives each day. He also talks about the delays caused by traffic and parking in the city.
The film shows Thomas travelling from Stephen's Green, down Grafton Street, through Suffolk Street on to Dame Street and College Green, up Westmoreland Street, across O'Connell Bridge and on to O'Connell Street.
The programme narrator describes bus driving as no easy job in Dublin and talks about the danger of the job and the corresponding responsibilities placed on bus drivers as they go about their daily route around the city. He also speaks about the admiration that the people of Dublin have for bus drivers.
